Teaching Award of the Faculty of Transport Sciences 2023: We are looking for your nominations!

Our faculty’s teaching award is going into a new round! After we awarded the prize for the first time last year and honoured Prof. Udo Becker and Dr. Stefan Frank, we would like to award two teachers again this year. The prize, endowed with 250 €, is to be awarded to one teacher each in undergraduate teaching (basic studies in transport engineering / Bachelor Transport Economics) and in postgraduate teaching (advanced studies in transport engineering / Master’s degree programmes). The teaching awards will be presented on Faculty Day, this year on 10 November.

Of course, you as students of the faculty should again be involved in the selection process. Until 16.07.2023, you have the opportunity to indicate in this survey the course and teacher to whom you would like to award the prize. Based on your nominations, the FSR will then make a preliminary selection, which will take into account not only the number of nominations but also your reasons and the size of the course. The final decision on the awarding of the teaching prize is made by the Faculty Council.

You can nominate all courses at our faculty that you have attended in the last two semesters.

We look forward to your numerous participation in the survey so that we can award the best teachers of our faculty!

Invitation to the summer party

It will soon be that time again: On 21.06.2023, we are organising our faculty’s summer party like last year. From 6 pm onwards, you can chat, celebrate and network with fellow students and faculty members on the POT-Wiese.

Food and drink will be provided. There will be delicious food from the grill, as well as various homemade salads, cakes and other snacks. There will also be cold drinks with and without alcohol (draught beer 2€, draught soda and lemonade 1,50€). Please bring your own plates and cutlery to avoid unnecessary waste (disposable tableware is available for an extra charge).

Our “Listige Vereinigungen” Spätverkehr, Euroavia and Verkehrte Welt will also be represented again with action stalls and offer you an extended range of drinks and games.

We look forward to your numerous coming and a nice evening with you!

Paddle boat regatta 2023

It’s summer again, and that means the obligatory paddle boat regatta is upon us! What could be better in the summer heat than a relaxed boat trip on the Elbe?

The participation fee is 12 euros and includes paddles and life jackets. Even though we call it a regatta, it is not a sporting event, fun is the main focus on the trip from Königstein to Obervogelgesang, always down the Elbe.

We will meet on Saturday, 08.07. at 09:15 at the main station under the glass dome. The tour will last until about 4pm, so remember to take something to drink with you.

Please register via OPAL by 20.06.2023. We look forward to seeing you!

Next stop Dr. / PhD

A discussion evening on the topic of “Next Stop: Dr. / PhD” is to take place on 27.06.2023. The event will report on the career path of a doctorate at our faculty. The situations of three doctoral students currently working on their doctorates at the faculty will be presented in a realistic way. Language is English, questions in German are possible.

The event will consist of 15-minute presentations by the doctoral candidates on their research project and their general situation. In addition, there will be entertaining mini-games between the talks, which are intended to debunk or confirm myths surrounding a doctorate in a humorous way. Many memes are waiting for you!
Afterwards, there will be plenty of room for questions from the audience, which should lead to a lively discussion.
