Every year in December, the university holds the university elections. There – amongst others – a new students council will be elected. All students of the faculty are very much invited to declare there candidacy. The election will take place between December 9 and December 11, more information to come. You can find the official election declaration here.
Why election?
As the advocacy group for all students in front of the university and our faculty the student council sends represenatives into different university committees. There, these people represent and defend the student’s interests. Therefore, it is important, that they are democratically legitimized. That’s why we hold public elections every year.
Why you should run for student council!
- You study and are member of our Student Body Traffic and Transportation Sciences “Friedrich List” at TU Dresden?
- You are motivated to represent you fellow students’ interests?
Amazing! Than, you are perfect to declare your candidacy and run for member! The student council would be delighted to see diverse candidates. Whether you are motivated to organise events, administer general tasks, or to represent students’ interests towards university committees, or many other things: There are different opportunities and diverse people are needed to tackle these. Thereby, it does not matter, whether you are very experienced or want to learn something new. The same shall be said in regards to how long you already study: Ideally, all different semesters and other student groups would be represented fairly in the student council.
We’re convinced: To get engaged in student council is very rewarding. We enjoy doing something for our fellow students and to move our university. For example, the name of the new German Bachelor MOVE was highly influenced by student representatives. Also, you will meet a lot of lovely people, who make up the student council. So you’ll never have to be alone again. On top of all these fun bits, as a member of the student council, you can for example study longer, because of our so-called “Gremiensemester”.
How do you run?
Easy: You fill out this form and hand it in, either at the Stura directly, or at our student council office. For the latter it has to be there by the student councils meeting on Monday, 17th, so we can make sure, the form will be at the election committee in time.
You are not convinced yet?
Then come to us: Write us a mail or on Instagram, or talk to council members you might know. We are very happy to give you advice or answer further questions about candidacy. Also the Stura has further information.
