Transfer of Credits

Transfer of Credits

If you have already passed modules in a previous degree programme that are also part of your degree programme here, you may be able to have them credited. The module will then be transferred and you will not have to take it again.

To do this, you must submit an application to the Examination Office. The Examination Office’s form for credit transfer can be found here, and the Examination Office’s instructions for completing the form and the required documents can be found here.

The module descriptions here at TUD (which you can find in the study documents) and at your previous university are the main criteria for credit transfer. The topics covered and the skills learned should match those of the module here at TUD as closely as possible – just as if you had already taken the module here. In addition, the scope of the module (ECTS credits) should be equivalent.

In general, a module, or at most a combination of two to three modules, can be credited towards one module here. An application that attempts to combine the skills from a whole range of modules into different modules at TUD is usually not advisable and would in any case require a detailed explanation.

The application for credit transfer should be submitted as early as possible so that you have certainty in good time before the examination phase, as the process can sometimes take a while.

Of course, every application is reviewed individually by the examination board.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at the FSR or the student representatives of your examination board.
