Participation in appointment committees

The FSR is looking for various members for appointment committees. When working on these committees, new professors are sought for the faculty. A mandate is a good opportunity to play an active role in shaping the future of the faculty. It is possible to give your opinion on future professors (and their teaching).

There are 6 places in the fields of safety engineering, transport planning and BIM. Registration is possible in this in this OPAL course until February 3, 2025 18:30. Female students are particularly welcome to apply. The plan is to send them to the FSR meeting on February 3rd. Attendance at this meeting as a candidate is desirable.

For further information, please contact our Faculty Council representatives at studierende.fkr_vw@tu-dresden.de. We look forward to your participation.

Vacancies on the study commission and the examination board

At the end of the summer semester, one student member will end his work on the Study Commission for VWI and TEc and on thee Prüfungsausschuss for VWI Ba. We are therefore looking for two people who would like to take over these positions!

In the Stuko, we mainly deal with the design of study documents and other topics relating to teaching at our faculty. We decide on module changes, revise our degree programmes and are currently also involved in the design of new Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes. Unfortunately all the meetings are held in German, but if you would also like to get involved, we would be delighted if you register here in OPAL.

In the Prüfungsausschuss, the examination board, we deal with cases like the transfer of credit points and other things like this. This board also works completely in German and you can register here in Opal.

If you have any questions, please contact the current Stuko members by email at any time!

Teaching Award 2024: We are looking for your nominations!

Our faculty’s teaching award is going into a new round! For the third time we would like to award two teachers for their outstanding courses in the last year.

Two teaching prizes will be awarded this year:

  • the first one to a lecturer in undergraduate teaching
(undergraduate programme in Transport Engineering or Bachelor of Transport Economics)
  • the second one to a lecturer in advanced teaching
(advanced degree programme in Transport Engineering, Master’s degree programmes)

The teaching award, endowed with €250 each, is expected to be conferred on Faculty Day on 8 November 2024.

The award procedure will take place in two stages this year. In the first stage, you can nominate people and corresponding courses, that you have listened to in the past winter semester or are currently listening to in the summer semester, until 13 July. We will then select the most nominated from these nominations. In the second step, you can vote until 26 July to hold a run-off vote between these nominees.

From the result of this run-off vote, we as the FSR Verkehr will form a ranking for the award based on the ratio between the number of participants in the event and the nominations of the teacher, which we will present to the Faculty Council for a decision.

We look forward to a high response rate so that the teaching award is highly meaningful and the quality of teaching at our faculty can be sustainably improved based on the results.

The survey can only be completed once. If you have any questions about the form, please contact us at fsrverkehr@tu-dresden.de.

Thank you for taking part!

Summer mixer 10 July from 6pm on POT-lawn

It’s almost time again: on 10 July 2024, we will be organising our faculty’s summer party, as in previous years. From 6 pm, you can chat, celebrate and network with fellow students and faculty staff on the POT meadow.

Food and drink will also be provided this time. There will be delicious vegetarian, vegan and meaty dishes from the grill, as well as various homemade salads, cakes and other snacks at reasonable prices. There will also be chilled drinks with and without alcohol (draught beer €2.00, draught soda and lemonade €1.50) and, for the first time this year, wine. An ice cream van will also be available.

Please bring your own plates and crockery to avoid unnecessary waste. However, if you have forgotten your crockery, you can also get disposable crockery in small quantities for an extra charge.

Our cunning associations Spätverkehr, Euroavia and die verkehrte Welt will also be represented again with stands, where you can expect an extended range of drinks and games. The Dresden band 80cmBrett will also be playing on site.

Further information about the summer festival can be found here on our event page.

We look forward to seeing you there in large numbers and to a great evening with you!

Paddle boat regatta on 13.07.

It’s summer time, which means it’s time again for the annual paddle boat regatta.

After all, what could be better than escaping the summer heat with a relaxing rubber boat tour on the Elbe?

Even though it’s called a regatta, it’s supposed to be a fun event, not a sporting one.

Participation fee is €12, paddle and life jacket included.

The meeting point is on Saturday, 13th of July, at 09:30am under the glass dome at the main station. We will take the train to Königsstein and start there our paddle boat trip down the Elbe to Obervogelgesang.

The tour will last until 4-5pm, so remember to bring something to drink.

You can register via OPAL at https://bildungsportal.sachsen.de/opal/auth/RepositoryEntry/28489023488/CourseNode/1716863397859293004?7

We look forward to seeing you!

Large-scale demonstration for democracy on June 08

We democrats still stand together – and we’ll see each other on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 3 pm on Dresden’s Theaterplatz!

The aim of the demonstration is to set a strong civic signal on the eve of the European as well as local elections, and to call on people to go out to vote for democratic parties. The event is embedded in dozens of other demonstrations that will take place nationwide from May 23 to June 8.  We need your energy for this – especially here in Saxony, where, in addition to representatives of the EU Parliament, the Dresden City Council, local councils (German: Ortschaftsräte) and district councils (Stadtbezirksbeiräte) will also be elected! Together we are the firewall. It depends on each and every one of us!

There will be a diverse stage program at the demonstration: Speeches and live music from local as well as nationally known initiatives and celebrities – among others, the Dresden-based band 01099 will be performing. Stay tuned for more information about the program – check out the channels of @wirsinddiebrandmauer_dresden and on their website https://wir-sind-die-brandmauer-dresden.org/

We look forward to setting an example with you!
